Before Uber, Lu worked at Yahoo Ads and Yahoo Finance team, built Yahoo's user profile system and financial data serving system respectively. Lu holds a CS master's degree from University of Southern California and bachelor's degree from Sun Yat-Sen University.

From user acquisition to ads campaign, big data analytics is widely used at Uber. Lots of data-driven decisions are made from PB+ data. From early days to now, data analytics plays an important role in growing Uber from 0 to 1.
In this talk, we will introduce how Uber builds big data platform to meet the needs of data analytics at scale. We will start with users cases, following with essential components of big data and our implementation. Finally, we will describe how the data platform be able to scale in cost-effective way.
